Township Tax Information
Application for deferment of summer taxes
Summer Tax bills are mailed out on 06-30-2026. Summer Taxes and 1% Administration fee are payable starting on 07-01-2026. 1% interest per month or portion of month is added after 09-14-2026. A 3% penalty is added on 02-16-2027. To avoid penalties and interest, make your payment on or before 09-14-2026. Unpaid taxes will be turned over to the Gogebic County Treasurer on 03-02-2027.
Winter Tax bills are mailed out on 11-30-2026 and due 02-15-2027. A 3% penalty is added on 02-16-2027. To avoid this penalty, make your payment on or before 02-15-2027. Unpaid taxes will be turned over to the Gogebic County Treasurer on 03-02-2027.
All payments that I receive after March 1, 2027, will be returned to you and you will need to contact the Gogebic County Treasurer.
I will be holding office hours on Monday, September 14, 2026.
9:00am – 1:00pm at the Wakefield Township Hall at 414 North County Road 519 in Wakefield
1:30pm – 5:00pm at my home office at 250 Old US 2 in Wakefield
If you wish to make your payment in person on any other date, please call or text me at 906-364-3481. The mailing address to send your check or money order to is-PO Box 191, Wakefield, MI 49968. It is helpful if you include your phone number with your payment so that I can reach you if I have any questions about your payment. Be sure to make your payment for the correct amount to avoid any over or under payments.
